Shoulder impingement
What to Expect
Shoulder impingement is a condition used to describe repeated irritation of the biceps or tendons (fibres that connect muscle to bone) of the muscles that connect the arm to the shoulder. The impingement can be due to:
Ruptured blood vessels due to excessive overhead activities
Tendon injuries due to repetitive overloading that causes inflammation
Tendon ruptures
Everyday activities that involve reaching out or back with the arm such as putting on a t-shirt can cause severe discomfort for individuals with the syndrome
At the Canadian Muscle and Joint Pain Clinic, we can manage and treat shoulder impingement using the following techniques:
Detailed stretching plans
Osseous manipulation/mobilization
Myofascial release
Trigger point therapy
Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
